President Xi Jinping has encouraged overseas students at Peking University to garner a deeper understanding of China as it is, calling on them to share their thoughts and experiences with more people and to proactively promote exchanges between peoples of different nations.
Xi's remarks came as he wrote back on Monday to 45 representatives of overseas students from 32 countries who are studying at Peking University.The reply letter from Xi has drawn a warm response from the overseas students at Guangzhou University , many of whom said it gave them a great boost.
Zhu Chu Yi Jasmine, an Italian international student who has been studying Chinese martial arts since the age of 7, said: "I am very happy that I can understand and learn Chinese culture, and I am more fortunate that I have the opportunity to come to China to study. Maybe I don’t know enough about it now. But I will continue to deeply understand and study Chinese culture, spread Chinese culture, and promote the spirit of the Chinese people."
Loh Hui Ting, a Malaysian undergraduate student who has stayed in China since the outbreak of COVID-19, said: "The epidemic has refreshed my understanding of the efficiency and technology of the Chinese government, allowing us to continue learning in a very low-risk environment.
